As a consultant to Oxfam, India (1998-2002), he had organized inter-faces of scholars, creative artists and social activists as part of the Violence Amelioration and Mitigation Project (VMAP). His writings have been included in a course ‘Public intellectuals of India’ offered by the College of Mexico, Mexico City.


3. Dr. K K Paul.

An IPS Officer of AGMUT Cadre, 1970, Dr Krishan Kant Paul is a Ph.D in Chemistry from Panjab University. He was amongst the first Ph.Ds in Police Service.

Facts about him:
  •   Published over 20 papers in Chemistry.
  •  Wrote Columns “Brass Tacks”  in “The Tribune”.
  •  Chief of Police in Arunachal Pradesh.
  •  Worked in  Central Intelligence Agencies.
  •  Asian Games in 1982, followed by NAM and CHOGM in 1983.
  • Introduction of several new technologies in policing in Delhi and making Delhi Police into one of the most modern police forces in the country. 
  • “Citizens First” was made into a guiding principle to focus on the service aspect of policing. Community policing initiatives.
  • Schemes like “Parivartan”, to fight crimes against women was initiated which won international acclaim. 
  • The prestigious “Weber Savvy” award for Community Policing and Law Enforcement was also won by Delhi Police during his tenure. 
  •  Amongst the other modernization efforts were the computerization of fingerprints and intensive use of CCTV cameras for security in public places and for management of traffic. Networking of Traffic signals through computers was also achieved.
  • He is the recipient of several commendations and appreciations from the Government, besides “Kathin Seva Padaks” and with Bar, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services and Police Medal for Meritorious Services besides the Internal Security Medal.
     It is not possible to fool him by giving vague answer, it is better to say no to him.

4. Shri I M G Khan.

  • 1970  batch Indian Postal Service officer is from Rampur, U.P. 
  • An alumnus of La Martiniere College, Lucknow and the Aligarh Muslim University from where he did his M.Sc. (Geology). 
  • Worked as Management Trainee in Indian Oil Corporation.

  • He also worked as Chairman, India Potash Ltd. Thereafter, he went back to UP and worked as Principal Secretary, Public Sector Enterprises, Principal Secretary, Food & Civil Supply; and Principal Secretary and Commissioner, Welfare, UP from March 2003 to January 2004. 
  • In  2004, he took over as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India and worked later on worked as Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Environment & Forests. He worked as Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs from 31st October 2006 to 30th June, 2007 in GOI. 
  • From 1st July, 2007 to 23rd May, 2008; he worked as Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
  • He also served as a Director on the Board of Directors of National level organizations such as IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, FAI etc.
  • He had been Chairman of the Regional Network for Development of Agricultural Cooperatives in the Asia and the Pacific Region (NEDAC) of the FAO for two years from November 1999 to September 2001 and held the position of Co-Chairman of NEDAC (FAO) from 2001 to 2003.
  • He was also on the Board of Directors of Air India Ltd., Indian Airlines Ltd., IAL Air Transport Services Ltd, Airports Authority of India, Pawan Hans Helicopters Ltd., Hotel Corporation of India, India Tourism Development Corporation.
  • He has written various papers in international/ national workshops and seminars and has also written a book titled “EK DRISTIKON”.


6.Shri Vijay Singh.

Brief facts:
  • Joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1970 (MP cadre). 
  • Key assignments held in the State Government include District Magistrate, Bhopal, District Magistrate, Gwalior, Commissioner Jabalpur Division, Commissioner Indore Division, Home Secretary and Chief Secretary, Government of MP. Has spent over 15 years in assignments directly related to the management of law and order and his role in preventing communal riots in Indore following the demolition of the Babri Masjid in 1992 was widely praised in the national media at that time.
  • Served in the Central Government at the level of Deputy Secretary/Director, Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary and Secretary. Worked as Coordinator for the festivals of India in France, USA, USSR and Japan from 1983 to 1987, under the chairmanship of Smt. Pupul Jayakar. 
  • Served as Joint Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Health from 1996 to 2001 and was closely associated with the creation of major national facilities such as the National Institute of Biologicals, the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Medical Sciences at Shillong, the Trauma Centre at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi as well as expansion of health facilities in rural areas. 
  • Served as Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Additional Secretary (Broadcasting), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from 2002 to 2004.
  • Served as Secretary, Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways and Defence Secretary. 
  • Appointed Member, Union Public Service Commission in November 2009.


7. Smt Rajni Rajdan.

Brief facts:

  • She is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Haryana Cadre (1973 batch) where she served as Secretary, Cooperation and Public Health, Principal Secretary, Housing and Chairman, Haryana Housing Board. 
  • Her assignments at the Centre included Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Food and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions. 
  • Author of a number of publication, she became Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Pension & Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances in February 2007




8. Dr. Venkatarami Reddy Y.

  • Former Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission between 2005 to 2011. 
  • He  was Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh hails from Kamalapuram village in Garladinne mandal of Anantapur district.
  •  He is  BE electrical engineering from the Government of College of Engineering, Anantapur, and M.E. degree from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore.
  • He did his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and joined as a lecturer at the JNTU College of Engineering in 1975.He was the youngest Vice-Chancellor to be appointed in JNTU's history in 1999 and continued in the position for six and half years till 2004.
  • Prof. Reddy was also the Chairman of Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, AP (EAMCET) for a record six years from 1999 to 2004.


9. Smt. Alka Sirohi.

  •  An IAS officer of 1974 batch of Madhya Pradesh Cadre.
  •  She served as Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training, and Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution in Government of India.
  •  Earlier, she was Special Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution in Government of India and also held the post of Principal Advisor in the Planning Commission.

After successfully launching AGNI - 5 (ICBM) last week ,India on Thursday successfully launched its first indigenous all-weather radar imaging satellite RISAT-1 giving a boost to its space program by PSLV.


  It is the country's first microwave remote sensing satellite which  has the capability to take images of Earth during day and night, as well as in cloudy conditions. Therefore, it will boost its remote sensing capabilities and facilitate agriculture and disaster management.
