It is the third and the last stage for the selection of the Candidate in Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC. The marks alloted for this stage is 300 and they are added with marks obtained from Mains Exam.
This stage is also known as Personality Round where candidate's suitability is judged by the board consisting of 5-6 members keeping into account the overall personality of the person. Not only the verbal aspect but Non-verbal aspect of the communication is taken into account in this stage.

Apart from the questions from the academic background , questions on hobbies, place of birth, or we can say that anything under the sun can be asked for checking the suitability of the candidates.


There must be a checklist to prepare for the preparation of Interview.

1. Bio -data must be fully prepared i.e. you must prepare for any questionon the information furnished in the bio-data.

2. Do not tell a lie in front of the esteemed and learned Interviewees.

3. Your N.V.C must be positive.

4. Listen carefully, so that you must know why this question is asked.

5. Try not to evade any question.

6. Put balanced views.

7. Do not resist questions on graduation level.

8. No tit for tat answers.

9. Do not argue unnecessarily.

10. Don't hesitate to say sorry.
